Carter & England On Their Way Home

Last updated : 06 December 2003 By Brian Cartlidge

Playing Colombia in their last Group game, Les Reeds young Lions picked up their first point of the championships with a 0-0 draw.

However, after defeats to Japan and Egypt, both by the same 1-0 scoreline, the England's Under 20's participation in the competition is over without a single goal being scored.

Carter didn't start the final Group game against Colombia having previously played the full ninety minutes of Englands previous two games. The Blues midfielder was introduced into the game from the subs bench with 21 minutes remaining but couldn't help England grab the all-important win that may have helped them qualify for the latter stages.

The single point from the game was enough to see the Colombians go through to the next stage after a win against Japan and a draw against Egypt earlier this week
