Carter deal nearly done

Last updated : 22 November 2002 By Brian Cartlidge
Carter, who has 18 months remaining on his current contract, is expected to put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal which would keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2006.

Blues boss Steve Bruce said: "We are in discussions with Darren, his family and his representatives and we expect to tie things up in the next week or so.

"We are virtually there and it will be a three-and-a-half-year contract.

"He has done extremely well for us and we have to sometimes remember that the kid is still only 18. It will be good news if he signs."
