The Blues youngster completed the full ninety minutes in his accustomed central midfield role for Les Reed's side at a windswept Britannia Stadium, Stoke.

After an even first 45 minutes England took a one goal advantage into the break - Manchester Utd youngster Eddie Johnson scoring on 43 minutes following a dreadful mix-up in the Welsh defence.

And, the United striker was on hand to score his and England's second goal six minutes into the second half of a game that once leading, Les Reed's side completely dominated.

Carter now seems certain to be included in the England under 20's squad for the World Youth Championships which take place in the United Arab Emirates from 27th November to 19th December.
