Christophe is a man of his word - Bruce

Blues need just a point from their last three remaining Premiership fixtures to be mathematically safe from relegation although the 44 points they have already has almost certainly guaranteed top-flight football at St. Andrews next season.

The promise the French striker made to Bruce when arriving at Blues on-loan from Bordeaux at the beginning of the year was that he would sign a one-year contract if the Blues kept their Premiership status and this they seem to have done.

"Christophe is a man of his word. He gave me his word that he will stay when he first walked through the door. Of course, everything hinges on us being in the Premiership," Bruce told Sky Sports news.

"But when he came here at Christmas he said 'If I enjoy it, I'll stay next year', and I don't think that has changed. I've got no reason to doubt him.

"But then when you've got 30,000 fans who really adore him, then I suppose you do enjoy it. He is a top player."
