The Senegal international midfielder has fallen right down the pecking order at St Andrews this season, managing just six starts and eleven appearances from the substitutes bench.
Earlier this week Blues boss Steve Bruce suggested that it maybe better for both parties if Cisse were to move and it now seems he could be on his way north to Sam Allardyce's side.
Reports last week were suggesting that Cisse had been training with Bolton and if that is true then it appears that he has impressed the Wanderers boss enough for him to want to sign him either on loan or on a permanent deal.
