Cisse injury set-back

Last updated : 10 February 2003 By Brian Cartlidge
Cisse, who was widely tipped to return to the team to face Chelsea on Saturday after a fortnight out with a calf problem, picked up the ankle injury during training on Friday and could now face weeks on the sidelines.

Consultation with the surgeon he dealt with at former club Paris Saint Germain in France has revealed a ligament rupture, although the damage isn’t as severe as it could have been.

Cisse will play no part in Senegal’s friendly against Morocco in Paris on Wednesday and Blues may let him stay in France to recuperate from this latest setback if he wishes to do so.
