Cisse picked up a slight knock in his teams international game at the weekend but is expected to be fit enough for Blues' trip to Anfield on Wednesday.

Clinton Morrison, Kenny Cunningham (both Ireland) and Robbie Savage (Wales) arrived back on Monday from their international duties all without any injury worries ahead of Blues game against The Reds.

"It's always a worrying time for clubs when players go off with their countries and we were relieved to learn none of them had been crocked," Blues general manager John Benson told The Express & Star.

"We've obviously got a tough game coming up at Anfield and it's good news to be going there with a strong squad.

"Aliou would have been back yesterday from Senagal's win in the African Nations Cup at the weekend, but was held up by an air strike."
