CISSE SIGNS - at last!

Last updated : 10 July 2002 By Brian Cartlidge
Cisse becomes the biggest signing in the club's history with a transfer fee of around £1.5 million being paid to his former club Paris St. Germain and his four year contract reportedly costing around £3 million.

He becomes manager Steve Bruce's second major signing of the summer after Welsh international midfielder Robbie Savage joined Blues from Leicester last month.

Cisse will now join up full-time with the Blues squad in about a weeks time as Blues manager Steve Bruce is to give him extra time off to recover from his World Cup exertions.

He could therefore play a part in Blues' pre-season tour of Scotland later this month.

Cisse said: "I am looking forward to playing in England and I know Steve Bruce from his time at Manchester United where he was a very good aggressive player, a very good header of the ball."

"Birmingham are new to the Premiership and I am looking forward to the challenge. I adore the Premiership and I adore English football.

"You should aim high as a player and for me playing in the World Cup and now the Premiership is my way of doing that. To play at this level will mean so much to me."
