Cisse targets last two games

The Senegal international captain, who has not figured in the Blues side since the away game at Blackburn in January, returned to training earlier this week after being sidelined with a calf and then an ankle injury.

Cisse recently paid for treatment in a South of France clinic to try to clear up the problem that has seen him break down in training on two other occasions after treatment.

His long-term absence led to rumours in the media that he may never play for Blues again but he is now targetting a return to action before the season finishes and hopes to be involved in either or both of Blues last two Premiership games away at Newcastle next weekend and then West Ham Utd at St. Andrew's on the final day of the season.

"I am aware of what people have been saying since I have been away and it has been unfair," Cisse told the B'ham Evening Mail.

"I am committed to Birmingham and I am determined to play again this season, maybe against Newcastle or West Ham.

"The supporters took me to their hearts when I arrived here and I have not forgotten that. They have been very good to me and I want to repay them.

"I needed to be at the centre because I could not clear my injuries up. It is a place where all the top French players, like Vieira, Henry, Pires, go when they are injured. It is a normal thing to do.

"I worked very hard there and now I am back I feel a good sensation, I am no longer bad.

"It has been a very difficult time for me. I have been very frustrated at not being able to play. Unfortunately, that's life."
