Blues were without a game last weekend and so the left-back paid a visit to watch his former club trounce Nottingham Forest 6-0 at Portman Road on saturday, a result which leaves Joe Royle's side just 3 points off one of the automatic promotion places currently being occupied by Wigan and Sunderland.

“I have never seen Ipswich lose when I have come to watch them and I clearly picked a good day to see them," Clapham told the East Anglian Daily Times.

“There is no reason why they can't go up, they have come through their bad patch and look strong. But there is still some way to go yet.”

Clapham made over 150 appearances for Ipswich in his five seasons at Portman Road before joining Blues during the January transfer window in 2003.
