The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international keeper, who is on a one month loan deal with Ian Rush's side, got his first start since moving to the Deva Stadium almost two weeks ago.

Doyle made two impressive saves in Chester's 1-0 victory, the first from a firm header by Rochdale defender Daryl Burgess and again when he moved well to clutch another header, this time from Gareth Griffiths.

The result took Chester into the quarter finals of the competition.
