Clemmo hoping for a piece of the action

Clemence joined Blues from Tottenham during the winter transfer window and, with the injury to central midfielder Aliou Cisse, he formed a formidable partnership in the Blues engine room with Robbie Savage which helped claw Blues away from the relegation zone and a respectful 13th placed finish in the table.

Come saturday though Steve Bruce has no injury worries in the midfield department so Clemmo is just hoping to see his name in the managers starting eleven against the club he joined as a youth.

"The first game of the season is always special whoever you play against. It doesn't worry me who we are playing," he told the Birmingham Post.

"The first game is always exciting because we want to get off to as good a start as possible.

"We are at home so we have an opportunity to do that. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be a good game for us.

"Obviously I know a little about Tottenham and I know it will be a very tough game for us. They have added to their squad with some quality strikers, so the lads are going to have to be ready.

"Hopefully we can have a good week of training to get tuned in and put on a good show."
