The Blues skipper is struggling with a sore groin having played four games in a ten day period upto and including the local derby against the Villa on sunday.
On a brighter note England centre-back Matthew Upson could be in-line for a return having missed the Villa game with a recurrence of the ankle injury that kept him sidelined for a month earlier this year.
