The Northern Ireland international midfielder's strike helped Blues to a 2-1 victory and a first Premiership win back at the start of a memorable season.

As described by STB match reporter Richard Barker after the game: "Johnson picked up the ball on the left touch line, and ran at the Leeds goal. He played a neat one-two with Morrison, before unleashing a sublime, curling right foot shot that looped beyond Robinson into the far corner. It was the kind of goal I used to tune into The Premiership' to watch last season."

At the same awards ceremony at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, Robbie Savage was crowned the 'Official Player of the Season', Stern John picked up the award for 'Top Scorer', Mat Sadler was named 'Young Player of the Year', Kenny Cunningham was named 'Players, Player of the Year', Stan Lazaridis was named 'Clubman of the Year' and goalkeeper Ian Bennett was given the 'Outstanding Contribution to Birmingham City' award.
