The Banbury-based official took charge of four of Blues' Premiership games last season the last of those being in the final game of the season against Arsenal at St Andrew's. Blues striker Walter Pandiani was the only player booked on that day.

Mr Gallagher took charge of three of Boro's games last season the last of which was in their 1-0 home win against Tottenham in May. Defender Gareth Southgate was cautioned on that day.

In total Dermot Gallagher took charge of 20 Premier League games last season in which he handed out a total of 50 yellow cards and 3 reds.

This season he has officiated in just the one Premiership game, that being the Newcastle v West Ham fixture last saturday in which one player from each side was booked but Hammers defender Paul Konchesky was controversially shown a red card.

Mr T Massey and Mr C Sarginson will be Dermot Gallaghers assistants for the game at St Andrew's on Tuesday night.
