Devlin to sign in the summer

Devlin's current loan deal from Sheffield Utd. runs out after Wednesday nights game against Crewe at St Andrew's but it is to be extended to the end of the season after that game.

"I'm a bit disappointed that nothing has already gone through because the manager has always told me he wants me to sign and people at the club want me to stay," Devlin told The B'ham Evening Mail.

"But there's not much I can do about that, it's been out of my hands all along.

The situation now is that Sheffield United have agreed to extend my loan to a third month, taking in the play-offs should we get there.

"Then, in the summer, the manager has given me his word that I will be taken on a permanent basis.

"I think with everyone concerned knowing how desperate I have been to come back here there wasn't so much urgency.

But it is still nice to know that I won't be over-looked as other players have been signed since I arrived in February."

It is believed a fee of around £200,000 has been agreed with the Blades for Devlin.
