Dugarry was found guilty of improper conduct at a Football Association disciplinary hearing for the offence which occurred during the Birmingham derby at Villa Park that ended with the Blues winning 2-0.

An FA spokesman said: "While finding him guilty, the commission accepted that he was not spitting directly at an opponent.

"They took this into account when fining him £12,500 and warning him as to his future conduct."

The striker will not, however, have to serve any match bans.
