Melchiot sustained an ankle injury during the 2-0 home win against Liverpool on February 12th and despite the Dutch international being close to fitness he was not risked in the 2-0 away defeat to Crystal Palace last saturday.

However, the Dutch international full-back should be ready for the game against The Baggies on Sunday lunchtime.

Emile Heskey will also return to the Blues squad having now served his one game suspension for picking up five bookings this season.

Wing-back Stan Lazaridis could also be back in contention for a first team recall this weekend too. The Australian wing-back, like Melchiot, was also close to being fit for the game at Selhurst Park and is likely to make the squad for Sundays game.

Lazaridis has not played since sustaining a thigh injury in the FA Cup 3rd Round tie against Leeds Utd back on 8th January.
