Fagan hoping to play a part

Fagan made his Premiership debut as a late substitute in last weekend's defeat at Southampton and with Stern John sidelined for at least three weeks, he is hoping for a continued run in the first team squad.

"Coming on against Southampton was a great buzz and I think I was more relaxed than I was when I got a half against Preston in the Worthington Cup," Fagan told the Evening Mail.

"I felt a bit of pressure in that game to do something special, I tried a bit too hard. It was my first home appearance and things had been built up a bit. I learned from that and now I feel comfortable and confident to do a job if I'm asked to come on again.

"I admit I have been getting a bit frustrated because I've scored goals in the reserves and played okay.

"The manager named me in some squads but then I was left out of others and when I wasn't included for Tottenham I thought I'd have to ask to go on loan somewhere in order to get games and experience.

"Geoff Horsfield is back now after suspension but Stern is out so, hopefully, I'll stay in his thoughts."
