Figueroa nearing involvement

Figueroa, a £2.5 million summer signing from Rosario Central, is yet to make the first team squad this season but Bruce said its only a matter of time before the 22-year-old striker becomes involved.

"Definitely, he will be in," Bruce told ICBirmingham.

"What has to be remembered is that Luciano got a thigh injury just after he joined and has only trained fully for a couple of weeks.

"We've put him on another pre-season programme to help him along and he's been coming in to do extra work.

"What we've seen from him has been encouraging. He might not turn into a Forssell or a Dugarry but he is a finisher, give him a chance and he knows where the goal is.

"He is still young and adapting to the football over here and one thing I do know is that he won't fail through a lack of effort."
