Foster had to be substituted 41 minutes into the away game against Liverpool on Saturday after suffering from thigh and back injuries.
McLeish said: "It would be a blow to lose Ben but hopefully the physios, doctor and medical team can get him back.
"He is one who has been outstanding for us and saved us many points."
