Former skipper is a wanted man

O'Connor was signed by former boss Trevor Francis from Peterborough for £500,000 in November 1996 and played over 200 games for Blues before joining Walsall in February 2002.

The industrious midfielder had the honour of skippering the Blues in their first major cup final for 38 years when they played Liverpool in the Worthington Cup Final in 2001.

Thirty-six-year-old O'Connor was released by the Saddlers at the end of last season and Jimmy Quinn's Nationwide Conference side are keen for him to take the step-down to non-league football with a move to Gay Meadow, although he is also being targetted by League clubs.

We wish him well wherever his future lies.
