French striker in talks

Bruce is close to finalising a deal for the Bordeaux striker who can leave Bordeaux either on loan or for a fee of around £2million.

Thirty-year-old Dugarry's lawyer met representatives from St Andrews earlier this week and the forward held preliminary talks with manager Steve Bruce and was shown around the Blues' Wast Hills training complex yesterday.

Dugarry, who was part of the France side that won the 1998 World Cup and European Championships in 2000, is keen to move to England and his home-town club Bordeaux won't stand in his way.
