Blues have supposedly agreed a transfer fee with Aston Villa for Craig Gardner.

Media reports and local radio stations have revealed that Blues have reached an agreement with local rivals Villa for the sale of the 23-year-old midfielder.

Gardner is now expected to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical early next week before finalising a move to St Andrews.

Blues boss Alex McLeish had earlier today (Friday) described Gardner as just the type of player he is seeking to strengthen his squad.

"Craig is a player who can perform in a number of positions and a player like that is worth his weight in gold in terms of squad strength," he said.
