The Blues centre back has received an automatic three game ban for his sending off for the tackle which has broken the Gunners forward's leg and left him sidelined for roughly nine months.

Blatter has commented that he thinks the suspension is not long enough and that Fifa should look at the tackle which could lead to a further ban for Taylor.

"I am extremely disappointed. I am only speaking because I feel so badly for Martin Taylor," Gold told Sky Sports News.

"It has been a traumatic event for him, I know poor old Eduardo is the one with the broken leg, but I have to stress Martin Taylor is carrying this as a great burden on his shoulders and he is distraught.

"I can only tell you this man is incapable of any act of violence and I just want to stress Martin is a complete professional. I think in 15 years of football he has been sent off twice.

"I am stunned that the president of Fifa has said this. This is a domestic issue which should be left in the hands of the Premier League and the Football Association

"He is entitled to his view but it is extremely over the top, and I am disappointed in his involvement and I think that not only will Martin Taylor have a three-match ban, this is something he will carry with him for the rest of his life in football.

"I think he (Blatter) is out of order. This is extremely disappointing he is saying that the Premier League and the Football Association are incapable of dealing with their own issues."
