Gold's Glass Is Half Full

The Blues chairman, who along with co-owner David Sullivan has pumped millions into helping Steve Bruce build a squad capable of gracing the Premier League, remains confident despite Saturday's home defeat to Premiership new boys Crystal Palace.

"Our start hasn't been as good as it should have been," Gold told the Birmingham Sunday Mercury.

"That isn't a criticism but I think we are right to be concerned. When you're only two points clear of the bottom you have to stop and take stock.

Scoring goals has been Blues' biggest downfall so far this season and Gold has said that the board will address that issue come the opening of the transfer window in January.

"The board will be wondering what areas need to be improved and, apart from an extra striker, I cannot see any," Gold added.

"Unless I'm mad or blind, I can see one of the best squads that has ever been assembled at Birmingham City.

"So I have to say that it will come right in the end."
