The popular left-back was making his second Reserves outing in six days following a 65 minute appearance for Keith Bertschins side in the second strings 3-1 defeat against Manchester Utd last Thursday.
Grainger has not figured in Steve Bruce's first team squad since making a substitutes appearance against Arsenal in the Premiership game at St. Andrew's in January because of a knee injury.
