Grainger's initial one month loan deal at Highfield Road comes to an end after the Sky Blues game against Burnley this weekend but City manager Eric Black has said that he expects to prolong the loan spell, possibly to the end of the season. "I’ve spoken to Steve Bruce and I think we can do that one," the Sky Blues boss told his clubs official website.
"I would imagine we could do it quite soon and we’d like to take him until the end of the season if possible.
"I’ll speak to Brucey again but I know Martin’s happy here and I think he’s contributed."
A key member of Blues promotion winning side of 2001-2, Grainger's last appearance for Steve Bruce's first team was over a year ago in the home defeat to Arsenal in January last year.
