Heskey Forced To Withdraw From England Squad?

The Blues centre-forward was substituted 63 minutes into the game against West Brom on Saturday although that decision appeared to be no more than tactical as Heskey was playing his first game for two-weeks having picked up a thigh injury in the opening game of the season at Fulham on August 13th.

However, The Mirror suggest's that Heskey was due to be recalled to the England squad but an injury at the Hawthorns forced him to withdraw from Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for the World Cup qualifiers aginst Wales and Northern Ireland.

* Michael Owen is suspended for the Wales game.
