Horsfield will be fined and disciplined

Horsfield was shown a straight red-card after just 28 minutes of the third round tie at St. Andrew's for an elbow on North End defender Graham Alexander and now faces an automatic three-game ban for his indescretion.

Bruce said: "That incident cost us the game. I don't think Geoff had tried to catch their player with his elbow. But you can't pick up your arms in this game today.

"We are now going to lose him for three games which is exactly what we can't afford to do given the size of our squad and the injuries and suspensions we have. He will be fined and disciplined."

Bruce had no complaints about the result: "They beat us fairly and squarely and the best team won on the night.

"We had two or three chances before they scored and for an hour I thought we were very comfortable but the first goal was always going to be crucial."
