Goalkeeper Maik Taylor was named in the starting XI for Northern Ireland in their away game against Montenegro.

Taylor kept goal for the full ninety minutes as Nigel Worthington's side were beaten 2-0 at the Podgorica City Stadium - Radomir Djalovic bagging a brace for the hosts.

Keith Fahey was also named in the starting XI for the Republic of Ireland's game against Argentina at The Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The Blues midfielder completed 77 minutes for Giovanni Trapattoni's side who were beaten 1-0 courtesy of a 20th minute Ángel Di María goal for the visitors.

James McFadden was named in the Scotland starting XI for their away match against  Sweden in Stockholm whilst his Blues' team-mate Seb Larsson was named amongst the substitutes for the hosts.

McFadden played for the full ninety minutes whilst Larsson played the whole of the second half of the game which the Swedes won 3-0 courtesy of goals by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Emir Bajrami and Ola Toivonen.

Summer signing Nikola Zigic was also on international duty for Serbia in their international friendly against Greece at the Partizan Stadium in Belgrade.

Greece won the game 1-0 courtesy of a Dimitrios Salpigidis headed goal right on the stroke of half time.

The Blues striker, who came close to earning his side a share of the spoils when hitting the crossbar with a header in the 68th minute, played for the first 75 minutes of the match.
