The Blues midfielder had been expected to return to manager Steve Bruce's squad for the home game against the Canaries on Saturday but was forced to pull out of the squad because the knee injury he sustained in the home game with Newcastle Utd earlier this season flared up in training.

Izzet missed four games with the knee injury and after just two games back he was sent off in the home game against Everton which meant he was supended for the away draw at Blackburn Rovers.

The Blues midfielder now faces a race against time to be fit for Blues' difficult away game at Arsenal next weekend.
