Johnno targetting December return

Last updated : 01 November 2002 By Brian Cartlidge

Johnno is now hoping to get back into competive action with a reserves team outing within the next fortnight.

He told the B'ham Evening Mail: "I've been fighting it for a year. Since the start of the season, it has just been a disaster for me.

"It's a bad time to run out of luck, that's for sure. There was massive soreness in my groin and it got to the point where something had to be done as it was getting progressively worse.

"The muscle had ripped away at the top of my pelvic bone. It was just bad timing really.

"For me, it's especially disappointing because I'd have a good chance of playing. But you can't do anything about the situation.

"I know the boss was frustrated but he just couldn't do anything about it, and sadly neither could I because it had got to the point where I just couldn't get through 90 minutes.

"But I'm starting my pre-season now. I've started running. Then it will be kicking a ball about with the kids then possibly I'll start a reserve game in November.

"I've been impressed with the way we have gone about teams, proving people wrong. No good saying that though, we want to be saying it at the end of the season."
