Johnson returns to starting XI

Johnson has not started a game for Blues since the away victory at West Ham on October 5th because of a hamstring injury picked up while away on international duty with Northern Ireland.

However, after two substitute appearances and with midfielders Robbie Savage suspended and Paul Devlin struggling with a slight calf strain, Johnson looks likely to be in manager Steve Bruces starting eleven for the game with the Saints.

"Damien is fit again and will definitely play against Southampton," Bruce said.

"He gives us a vital bit of flexibility in midfield."
