The 19-year-old former Arsenal Academy midfielder, who has been influential in the Blues Reserves brilliant start to the season, has joined Brian Talbot's side on an initial one month loan deal.
Kilkenny has been getting rave reviews from Reserve team supporters this season and he is sure to benefit from playing regular first team football.
He could also find himself playing alongside former Newcastle Utd and England international midfielder Rob Lee who is currently in discussions with The Latics over a short term deal.
Kilkenny is expected to go straight into the Oldham squad for their league game against Barnsley at Boundary Park this weekend.
