Kirovski work permit refused

The Home Office turned down the application for a work permit for Kirovski on the grounds that the midfielder had not played enough games for the United States in the last two years.

Blues will launch an appeal which can take five to seven days which means he is unlikely to be available for the Premiership opener at Arsenal on August 18th.

Club secretary Alan Jones told Sky Sports: "I am aware that the application has not gone through and so we've got to go to review.

"Steve Bruce wants the guy so we will go to review which hopefully will be in the next seven days but that could make the player a doubt for the first game even if the review is successful from our point of view.

"It basically comes down to percentages in terms of how many international matches Jovan has played and they feel that he does not meet the criteria."

Kirovski has already agreed personal terms with Blues and passed a medical.
