Eight pre-season friendlies were played before Blues first season of Premiership football.

Blues played away games at Exeter City, Tranmere Rovers and at Conference club Forest Green Rovers.

Sandwiched in between these games Blues had a three-game tour of Scotland.

August saw Blues take on Stoke City at The Britannia Stadium and then one week before the Premiership season begins they entertained Spanish side Deportivo Alaves at St. Andrew's.
