Marcelo willing to join Saddlers

But the deal with the Saddlers, involving Blues' 12-goal leading scorer, captain Martin O'Connor and defender David Holdsworth seems to be on the verge of collapse.

The two clubs are haggling over the amount of money that Blues should get in return for the three players.

It is thought that Blues have asked for around £150,000 should the Saddlers avoid relegation from division one.

Marcelo and O'Connor are seemingly getting frustrated at all the wrangling and the Blues leading scorer told the Birmingham Evening Mail: "The situation isn't good.

"Personally I would sign for Walsall but no-one knows exactly what is happening.

"The clubs are talking but we are in the dark. Martin asked me if I had any news and I said 'no', I asked him the same and he said 'no'!"

Marcelo has failed at the second attempt to prove himself to Blues boss Steve Bruce having also played under him at Sheffield United

"I find it hard to accept the situation," he admitted. "Because of what I have done this season it is difficult for me to understand.

"I scored 20 goals in 28 starts at Sheffield for him but I suppose I only came into the team when they sold Dean Saunders to Benfica. Maybe he has a lot of money to spend here and wants to bring in a couple of new strikers.

"In football you have to be prepared for change but, on this occasion, I find it hard to realise I am no longer wanted."

"I just want to play," Marcelo added. "It is no good for me to be in the reserves. At Walsall I would have the opportunity to be in the team."

Both Marcelo and O'Connor are out of contract at Blues in June.
