McFadden damaged the cartilage in his knee during the 1-1 home draw against Newcastle United and was forced to sit out the away defeat against Reading last weekend.
The Scotland international striker has now undergone the operation required and according to manager Alex McLeish he is expected to be sidelined for about another fortnight at least.
