However, the Guinea international centre-back is once again the subject of a possible move to St Andrews.
"I don't rule anything out in football," McLeish told The Birmingham Mail.
"I have wanted to strengthen at centre-half since I've come into the club. I've not been able to do it yet.
"It's maybe down to not being able to get the right ones yet.
"Balde, we tried to get in the summer. I don't want to start talking about it again in case there's nothing in it because I know that the Birmingham fans had to put up with that saga for a few weeks before.
"I will keep things quiet just now and if I hear anything, then we will wait until something is going to happen 100 per cent, whether it's Balde or someone else before making an announcement."
