The Dutch full back, arguably Blues' most consistent player so far this season, has been forced to sit out the last two games against Villa and West Brom.
It now remains to be seen whether manager Steve Bruce brings Melchiot straight back into the starting eleven for the game against Middlesbrough on Boxing Day or whether he will stick with Olivier Tebily in the right back role.
Ironically Blues have won both of their last two games without Melchiot in the side but I would think he will go straight back into the side for the game against Boro at St Andrew's at the expense of Ivory Coast international, Tebily.
