Mini-league results the key

Blues take on Sunderland at St. Andrew's on Saturday in their latest crucial game against a side in the bottom six of the Premiership table, but with an impressive record against teams involved in the relegation battle.

Blues have taken maximum points from the local derby games with Aston Villa, beat West Brom at home and grabbed a draw at the Hawthorns, picked up three points at home to Bolton and gained away wins at Fulham, Sunderland and West Ham.

Victory at St. Andrew's on Saturday would put Blues on 38 points and surely just three points off Premiership safety, defeat for Sunderland will see them relegated to the Nationwide after four years in the top-flight.

Of the sides in-and-around the bottom of the table Blues appear to have the easier of the remaining fixtures with four of their remaining six games at home, however this is a must win game for Blues and with a full house and the backing of our tremendous home support, I fully expect maximum points from Saturdays game - sorry Black Cats fans but I'm sure you'd rather us relegate you than your arch rivals Newcastle, who play at the Stadium of Light next weekend!!
