Mooney resigned to leaving Blues

Mooney scored 15 goals in helping Blues into the Premiership last season but is clearly not in manager Steve Bruce's long term plans and is currently out on loan at first division Sheffield Utd after completing three months at Stoke City earlier this season.

"My Birmingham career is coming to a close and that's not an opinion anymore. That is fact. I am clearly not going to play for them again," said the striker who signed on a free transfer from Watford in 2001.

"But I still have a substantial length of contract left at Birmingham so hopefully something can be sorted out sooner rather than later.

"I would be delighted if something could be worked out at Sheffield United but I am under contract at Birmingham City.

"The fact that I'm under contract makes it all the more difficult. If something comes along that I like the sound of, then great. I'll then think about - but otherwise I will just see out my contract at Birmingham City."
