New main stand will come

The new stand would increase the capacity but Gold pointed to Blues first season back in the Premiership when not every game was a complete sell-out.

Gold told the Sunday Mercury: “Building a new main stand would cost £12 to £13 million.

“It would initially increase capacity to 37,000, but there would be provision for an extra tier which would take it to 40,000.

“It will only be done at a time when we believe the extra capacity can be filled. There were a number of games last season when St Andrew’s was not full.”
