Following their loss on Wednesday to host nation Belgium this was a must-win game for Sean McCaffreys side and they duly obliged with a convincing 3-1 win in Knokke thanks to goals by Gary Mulligan (Wolves) on 20 minutes, Henry McStay (Leeds) on 57 minutes and Mark Yeates (Spurs) on 90 minutes. Milan Purovc had equalised for Serbia & Montenegro on 26 minutes.
