Pearson Loan Deal Snub Confirmed

Blues appeared to be close to signing Pearson on a permanent deal only for the player's medical to show he had a groin injury problem.

Blues then wanted to sign Pearson on an initial loan deal with a view to making the deal permanent should there be no longstanding problems with the groin injury.

"Stephen has turned down the chance to move to Birmingham on loan," his agent Willie McKay told Sky Sports.

'"He would have been happy to go if it was a permanent transfer, but he just thinks a loan move is not right at this moment.

"Everything was agreed for a permanent transfer until a small problem with his groin showed up on his medical and Birmingham decided they would prefer a loan deal.

"Stephen would have liked to have linked up again with Alex McLeish, but the loan did not suit.

"Stephen will be back fit in a couple of weeks and he hopes to find himself a new club.

"There are a couple of Premier League clubs watching his situation."
