The Blues defender has served his three-game ban for his much-publicised red-card incident with Fulham striker Louis Boa Morte during the Premiership clash between the two sides at St. Andrew's last month.
Purse has missed the games against Manchester Utd, Chelsea and Aston Villa and now has another chance of trying to force his way back into Steve Bruce's first-team plans - not an easy task when you consider that the defensive pairing of Kenny Cunningham and Matthew Upson have kept six clean sheets in the seven games they have played in together this season.
Elsewhere, Maik Taylor is available for selection for the game at Bolton this weekend having now served his one game ban for the red-card he received at Old Trafford. Taylor missed the local derby game with Villa at St. Andrew's on Sunday.
