Purse Considers Future

Purse has reportedly said that he can't afford to spend another season as fourth choice at Blues.

Hardly surprising this news really. Most Blues fans will have seen this coming for a while now.

Purse began last season as second choice to Kenny Cunningham and Matty Upson at the heart of the Blues defence and with the signing of Martin Taylor from Blackburn in January he appears to have fallen right down the pecking order.

He did manage 12 starts for Steve Bruce's side last season although he did himself no favours in the second of those appearances when he was sent off in the home game against Fulham back in September and didn't get back in the side for almost four months after that incident.

His last first team game came in the embarrassing FA Cup 5th round replay defeat to Sunderland at St Andrews in February whereafter he sustained an ankle injury in a reserve team game and was sidelined for the latter part of the season.

Purse still has two years left on his Blues contract and should he become available I'm sure there will be numerous Premiership clubs lining up for his signature.
