The Gil Merrick Stand will become the new name for old Railway End from the start of the 2009/10 season. "Bringing the club's history back to St. Andrew's as part of the pledge is very important to me. The renaming of the Railway End is a great way to do this."
"We are honoured and privileged to be able to dedicate the stand to Gil," chairman David Gold told the club's official website.
Merrick, now 87-years-old, made 551 appearances for Blues between 1939 and 1960 as well as gaining 23 international caps for England.
