Rob Styles In The Middle At Everton

Last updated : 24 April 2005 By Brian Cartlidge

Blues have already had the pleasure of the Hampshire-based official refereeing three of their games so far this season whilst Styles has taken charge of two of Evertons Premier League games.

The last Blues game that Rob Styles took charge of was in the 2-1 away defeat against Newcastle United back on New Years Day. Emile Heskey and the now departed Robbie Savage were both booked at St James' Park on that day.

Ironically, prior to the Newcastle game, Rob Styles had been the man in the middle for the 1-0 home defeat to Everton back in November. No Blues players were booked on that day and just Kevin Kilbane picked up a caution for the visitors.

Rob Styles also took charge of Blues' 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers back on 25th September 2004 where Savage again picked up a customary yellow card.

The last Everton game that Rob Styles officiated was in their 2-1 local derby defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on 20th March. The four Everton players picking up cautions on that day were David Weir, Joseph Yobo, Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert.

In total Rob Styles, who earlier this week was named as the referee to take charge of this seasons FA Cup Final, has taken charge of 22 Premier League games so afr this season in which he has handed out 59 yellow cards and 7 reds.

Mr P Canadine and Mr M Short will be Rob Styles' assistants for the 12.30pm kick off at Goodison this Saturday.
